Adventures with Meaning
A series of holiday programs that teach children to be amazed
A series of holiday programs for children aged 5–12 is based on the concept of edutainment (education through engaging activities), which combines the learning process with play, creativity, exploration, and adventure. This approach allows children to preserve their natural motivation for discovery, transforming learning into an emotionally rich and personally meaningful experience.
The concept of edutainment corresponds to the modern understanding of education as a process of developing 21st-century competencies, where knowledge is acquired through active engagement, collaboration, creativity, and solving real-life or game-based challenges.
In developing the programs, the authors draw upon the cultural-historical theory of L. S. Vygotsky, according to which development occurs through cooperation and within the zone of proximal development; the ideas of M. Montessori about independent exploration and the active role of the child in learning; J. Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, which emphasizes the importance of personal experience in constructing knowledge; as well as the educational philosophy of J. Dewey, who viewed learning as a process of gaining knowledge through action, exploration, and solving practical problems.
Modern research in the field of neuroeducation confirms that emotional engagement, play-based activity, movement, creativity, narrative structures, and interdisciplinary connections activate the mechanisms of attention, memory, and long-term knowledge retention. This is why history, literature, natural sciences, art, and logic in our programs are combined into a single educational adventure.
This approach contributes not only to intellectual development but also to the formation of 21st-century skills — critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and emotional intelligence. Shared discoveries and positive learning experiences become the foundation for meaningful communication between children and parents, strengthening trust, mutual understanding, and a culture of family interaction.
The programs take place at the children’s bookstore-club “Masha and the Three Bears” in Haifa. (https://mimbookstore.com/event)
“ENGINEERING ECOLOGY PROGRAM”
For children aged 5–10
April 6–10, 2025
As part of this program, children take part in workshops on mechanics and recycling. In these workshops, old things are given a new life. After all, waste is not really waste at all. It is a true treasure from which something new, beautiful, and useful can be created!
Program participants make postcards from recycled paper, create accessories from old denim, and craft interior items and souvenirs from recycled materials. In other words, they not only create, but also help the planet! The more items are recycled and reused, the cleaner our streets, forests, and seas will become.
In addition, participants learn about inspiring eco-projects and discover ways to take care of the world around them.
“THE ART OF TRANSFORMATION WITH BELOVED LITERARY CHARACTERS”
For children aged 5–10
April 14–17, 2025
All participants of the program will enjoy 4 days of exciting workshops, quests, games, and, of course, spectacular transformations. Each day, children will embark on an amazing adventure together with their favorite literary characters, learning English and creating unique art projects.
Day 1: Scandinavian children’s literature
“Karlsson-on-the-Roof”, “Pippi Longstocking” by Astrid Lindgren, and Tove Jansson’s books about the Moomins.
Day 2: “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”
Day 3: “The Chronicles of Narnia”
*Day 4: “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”
“ALICE IN WONDERLAND”
For children aged 5–11
July 27–31, 2025
5 magical days of adventures, creativity, and wonders!
Participants of the program will “jump” down the rabbit hole together with the instructors. From there, each day they will receive a new challenge from the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts.
Children aged 5–11 will play, create, solve riddles, and collect fragments of the lost Time in order to save Wonderland!
Gifts, surprises, and a true story with a happy ending await all participants.
“THE GREAT SPACE JOURNEY”
For children aged 5–11
August 3–7, 2025
The program includes: building a rocket and engineering games, space cuisine, astronaut training sessions, the creative workshop club “Galaxy Stars”, an interplanetary quest, quizzes, and board games.
Program participants will uncover the secrets of the boundless Universe and, at the end of the week, happily return to their home planet called Earth.
“HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON”
For children aged 5–11
August 10–14, 2025
5 days of adventures, creativity, and tamed creatures!
Program participants will embark on a magical journey into the world of dragons!
In this fairy-tale world, every participant becomes a dragon trainer and a dragon tamer, creating their very own dragon — from scales to tail, from personality to superpowers.
Together, participants teach their dragons how to fly, play, protect, and become friends.
Program participants will also:
- train and test their dragons,
- draw, sculpt, and build dragon lairs in creative workshops,
- take part in game challenges, quests, competitions, and the final dragon exhibition.
“YOUNG DETECTIVES CLUB”
For children aged 5–12
August 24–28, 2025
Attentive and curious children aged 5–12 are invited to the headquarters of young detectives and investigators, where they will solve logic and detective challenges, conduct scientific experiments and explore the properties of materials, take part in quests, code-breaking activities, and outdoor “follow the trail” investigations.
The program also includes brain fitness (no sweat, but plenty of surprises), active games and sports competitions, and creative work in the workshop.
The “Young Detectives” will discover the secrets of nature and search for clues in the natural environment.
On the final day of the program, the young agents will not only receive secret diplomas, but will also create a quest for all the guests visiting the store’s headquarters that day. Participants of this quest will discover just how difficult it is not to get caught by a young detective.
“LIGHT, SHADOW, REFLECTION”
For children aged 5–11
December 16–22, 2025
Program participants will embark on a journey through the world of contemporary artists: Mondrian, Kusama, Murakami, and their bold ideas.
They will take part in creating artworks using techniques inspired by these artists, as well as creating and bringing to life stories of light and shadow in the style of shadow theatre.
They will play, read, take part in mini-quests, and return home with new impressions, positive emotions, and bright creative works.
“MYSTERIES OF THE ENCHANTED FOREST”
For children aged 5–12
March 24–30, 2026
In this program, ordinary reality gently steps aside, making room for an enchanted forest. In this forest live woodland fairies and elves who speak their own language, guard ancient secrets, and await those who are ready to join them on a journey through their magical world.
Each participant creates their own character, faces riddles, quests, and challenges, and finally finds themselves at the ball of the Elf Queen. Throughout the program, participants take part in a role-playing story game — one big adventure with a map, hidden treasures, Easter eggs, and secrets — while creating magical objects: amulets, artifacts, costumes, and decorative elements.
The program includes lots of movement, outdoor walks, active games, and relay races.
“BACK TO CIVILIZATION”
For children aged 5–10
March 31–April 7, 2026
Program participants embark on a journey through time — without a time machine, but with imagination, games, and genuine curiosity — and discover the worlds of great civilizations:
- Ancient Egypt
- Ancient Mesopotamia
- Ancient Greece
- The Roman Empire
Each day brings a new era and a new historical figure: a pharaoh, a king, a philosopher, or a military leader.
Participants uncover mysteries, learn to ask questions, discuss, debate, and experience the spirit of each era rather than simply memorize facts.
From every journey into the ancient worlds, participants return with “souvenirs” — because even a journey through time is not something you can come back from empty-handed.
